Is it just me or do you think this guy that made this movie has some kind of problem with the government or something. I admit I liked the first movie and I agreed with him about the religion part and the 9/11 part I've all heard before (it's an interesting idea, but I don't agree with that.) And the last part about... a one world government. This just comes out of nowhere because at first he's talking about something else and then he comes to a North American Union and then that comes up. It just seemed out of place, but it added religion and 9/11 up so I'll give him that one, but the second one was just so stupid. I don't see how that stupid Venus Project could work and he spends about 40 minutes on this stupid subject that just won't ever work. I turned it off when I only had 20 minutes left because I was convinced that this guy definitely had problems with the government. I just don't see how he came up with these ideas in one day or developed them over time and I can't believe how much people he's manipulated and how people preach him like he's a god with these ideas. What do you guys think of Zeitgeist?

Oh dear, not this one...

Zeitgeist is terrible, even the religion section (I'm an atheist and strong anti-theist by the way) is based entirely off of rumour (all this Horus stuff is wrong, none of the prophets stories actually occur in that way in any literature aside from some weird independant books which don't have their sources refrenced. For a start, Horus has nothing to do with the sun. Ra was the sun, he just happens to look quite a bit like Horus. Heck, Zeitgeist doesn't even pronounce Horus' name correctly. The twisted version of Horus (and all the other gods Zeitgeist singled out) were all completely fabricated... These stories just do not exist. Horus wasn't even any kind of "savior" or anything like that... It's very strange that this myth appeared.

Ages ago I was given a link from a friend saying "watch this, it'll blow your mind". This was back before the really embarrassing stuff was cut out (such as saying "God's Sun" is the same as "God's Son" despite the words only sounding the same in English, or that Mary is Virgo and Virgo's symbol looks like an M hence the name Mary, even though neither Hebrew nor Greek use a Roman alphabet!). The problem is believing something you're told with no evidence isn't something which Atheists tend to do, and 99% of the evidence in Zeitgeist are urban myths with no backing. Posts from forums handed down through word of mouth, stuff like this. The religion section of the film is very uninformed, and completely outdated by the research a lot of the people on here have done.

Granted, there were a few sections in the 9/11 part which had me stumped, but most of those even were "Demolition specialists say that..." with no references to who said it, where they got that information, where to find out more, again, sounds like Chinese whispers. The only times I've seen genuine, believable, solid evidence it's been from the opposing side of the theory.

Zeitgeist attempts to knock religion out, and then starts up making it's own - internet followers believing every word because it was said in the pretty documentary, believing purely on faith that what it says is true.

Like religion, Zeitgeist uses anti-evidence as evidence; it fills in gaps with it's own theory as if it's own theory could be the only explanation (you know, the whole thing where a person in a seance hears a tap and is thus convinced that ghosts exist), and frightens you with threats (the Rockerfellers are gonna put chips in you, you're going to go to hell, etc.).

Very insightful reply Distant! Glad someone agrees with me that all this movie does is manipulate people. By the way have you seen the sequel?

Just finished watching it. I was close to believing everything in the movie, but then I saw DistantJs comment, did a litle research and confirmed that there isn't much truth in the documentary. It was interesting, of course. I was shocked by the third part with the staged attacks, which were meant to push the US into wars. Undecided

I don't really believe the first part with religion, but the guy had some points. It's funny that a long time ago we were shown the 9/11 part of the documentary....but never the 1st part or the 3rd.

Trust me, you should take the entire thing with a pinch of salt. The later sections are just as unreliable as the religion section. Do yourself a favour and look up "Zeitgeist debunked" or something along those lines, there are lots of essays putting this guy's documentary into perspective.

It's basically a pretty video with flashy lights and music made by a paranoid student based on hear say.

I just found the site you were talking about. I would have never guessed that there are so many errors in Zeitgeist. The guy talking was pretty convincing, though.   Shocked

It's true then. People will believe any bull$*it you say as long as you believe in it. Wink
