Title: Need some help Post by: TheEasternMovieCritic on August 19, 2009, 10:41:34 PM I have a PS3 (with Blu-Ray) and I'm a huge movie fan. All the DVD movies that I watch I get from sources that, I think, are not allowed to be mentioned on the forum. Should I combine these two? BR diks are vrey expensive and, well, I could get like several a year. I'm not sure if I should stick to DVD until something better than BR appears (I'll have more economical possibilities then) or slowly switch to BR. Title: Re: Need some help Post by: EZRASHUGEREVIEWS on August 20, 2009, 06:25:22 AM GO TO amazon.com AND half.com TO GET BLU-RAYS FOR THE PRICE OF A DVD.
Title: Re: Need some help Post by: TheEasternMovieCritic on August 20, 2009, 07:50:16 AM I'm not buying anything online. Title: Re: Need some help Post by: FuryoftheFilmFan on August 21, 2009, 04:16:43 AM Can you get netflix or blockbuster video online? What I was doing is renting the blu ray movies and only buying the must have titles. I mean, I doubt you need the blu ray version of marley and me.
Title: Re: Need some help Post by: TheEasternMovieCritic on August 21, 2009, 10:09:31 AM That's a good idea, but there are no rental services here. The two sites are cool, but as I said, I'm not using anything that has to do with mail. :P (Why? 1. I live very far. 2. Mail fraud. The last two items i ordered online never came)
Still, thanks for the advice, Fury. Title: Re: Need some help Post by: RabidScotsman on August 24, 2009, 12:35:18 PM If you but any Blu Ray movies, only buy ones that are recent. Films that are over 20 years old are not worth buying for $30. They only have slightly better picture and usually have little to no special features. I recommend
Punisher: War Zone The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Criterion) Transformers (Crap movie but sounds great) Quantum of Solace Title: Re: Need some help Post by: Ben_Hayden on August 24, 2009, 02:49:11 PM Just go to blu ray. They are much better- In the quality of the picture, and in the special features.
Title: Re: Need some help Post by: TheEasternMovieCritic on August 25, 2009, 01:35:25 AM I appreciate the help, guys. :)
UPDATE: 30$? F**k me, they're 40-45 here. :o Title: Re: Need some help Post by: FuryoftheFilmFan on August 28, 2009, 09:16:23 PM blu ray prices are dropping fast. It's not rare to find then between 15-20 bucks now a days. New releases too/.
Title: Re: Need some help Post by: Ben_Hayden on November 29, 2009, 04:54:21 PM Say you really want a movie. YOu go to the store and look for it. If it is only on DVD, don't deprive yourself and wait for a blu-ray copy to come in (if ever), get the movie for Christ's sake. If it is only on blu-ray, that should also be simple for you. If it is on both, look at their special features, cost, and how much you like the movie (there is nothing worse then getting a $20-40 movie and only ever watching it once). If the bluray copy looks like a better deal, don't hesitate, you will like it a bunch more then a DVD version!
