For me, it's Danny Elfman hands down!  All of his music always fits the theme of the movie perfectly!

Danny Elfman's Spiderman Theme

My favorite movie score is Star Wars.  So many memorable songs came from that soundtrack!

My favorite song from the Star Wars soundtracks

What are some of your favorite composers and movie scores?

+1 for good thread!

For me, Hans Zimmer is the one!!

Hans Zimmer:"Rain Man"(1988)-Main Theme

Fucking awesome synth/ethnic/orchestral combination.

Why So Serious- Joker Theme

I love the Joker theme in this movie for the most part it's literally one note, yet it's awesome. Hans basically challenged himself to create the menace of the character using a single note, and pulled it off amazingly well. It's like, you just hear this sound, each time before the joker appears on the scene... When you hear it, you know he's coming!! It's fucking fantastic.

Lion King Soundtrack- This land

And I'm not afraid to admit that the score of this movie literally brings tears to my eyes. 1:12 is the best part. I was so thrilled, when I went to see the Lion King stage show in london, that they actually performed Hans' score!

My favourite ones are Hans Zimmer and John Williams. HAns ZImmer really impressed me with the scores from Pirates of The Carribean. John Williams polished the Star Wars series. I don't know the composer of the lotr score, I'd add him too.

 Fav. scores:

  Star Wars
  lotr
  Most Disney Movies
  King Kong (the 2005 one)

I also like Danny Elfman and Hans Zimmer.

I also like Carter Burwell who worked on movies like Twilight and Burn after Reading and John Powell who worked on the Bourne Trilogy. I love that soundtrack.

Man Requiem for a dream is so over used on youtube, it's a joke. I like all sorts though - mainly Hanz Zimmer. I like Danny Elfman alot to, I just love the main theme of Spiderman so much.

Here is Crimson Tide theme for anyone who hasn't heard it, it's a bit lengthy but it's worth it.

Not just on youtube, it's all over! I can't stand that theme nowadays. Hell, it's now the theme song for Britain's Got Talent!

It's called "Lux Aeterna" ("The Eternal Light"). It's as overused and overrated as Linkin Park - well, the Lord of the Rings trailer version is, the original version used in Requiem for a Dream is actually a very understated, slow piece and the one infecting internet videos, trailers and TV advertisments is actually a quickly orchestrated version which was done because they didn't have the score ready yet for the movie! The version you hear is actually called "Requiem for a Tower".

It was also in trailers for I Am Legend, The Da Vinci Code, Zanthura, Man on Fire, Resident Evil 5...

So overused that it's ruined, really.

I feel you, man.  I loved the song when I first heard it, but now I can't stand it.

Also, I was trying to remember Hans Zimmer in my original post in this thread, but for the life of me, I couldn't remember his name.  I love his Pirates of the Caribbean theme!

Was anybody else a fan of the music from the trailer for Star Trek 2009?  Don't know if it was used in the film  or not because I haven't seen the film yet, but I love the music.

5. Blade Runner - Vangelis

Wait, the guy who went back in time and ripped off Vangelus scored the greatest science fiction film of all time?  So many mixed emotions....

Anyway, my favorite scores would have to be Halloween and The Nightmare Before Christmas (I frickin' love the music for that movie) My favorite composers?  Danny Elfman, obviously, and of course, Akira Ifukube.
