Haha! I've never really seen much of the episodes(only 2). And I had absolutely no clue there was even a movie. I won't be checking it out anytime soon.

Yes, let's make a topic about Anime. It'll make much more sense. 'Cause this is way off topic for being about Cowboy Bebop. Haha  Grin

After our discussion, ross, I've decided to put it in the TV discussions thread and if were going to discuss anything related to anime, lets put it there!

Here it is...

With that out of the way, lets get back on topic,

How do you feel about how their going to maybe turn the live action film into a potential franchise? Keanu said that the movie will be based on the first episode "Asteroid Blues" and the "Red Eye" subplot will be expanded in the film. The bonus here would be that it would not be an origin film, which I like. If there are sequels, I expect that Julia and Vicious should come into the picture and play major roles in Spike's development.

So is there any chance that Faye Valentine will make it into the first film? Spike is cool and the series isn't complete without him and all but every popular anime series has a memorable sex symbol character that the series just isn't complete without having and Faye just seems to be it for here. Would anyone bet that Spike and Faye would have a romantic relationship in the film? Me personally, I really don't appreciate the idea though since Julia is the one who is Spike's one true love and his relationship with Faye feels like a sibling relationship, though.

So how would you like the first movie to be done as? I would like the live action film adaptation as a combination of the prologue from "Asteroid Blues", Faye's introduction from "Honky Tonk Women" and the major turning point for Spike's development in "Ballad of Fallen Angels"(my personal favorite episode).

I'm not a real hardcore, die-hard fan of Cowboy Bebop, but I must admit it is one of my favorite animes.
I'm not sure overall. I don't think the film would be complete without Faye, and the whole team in general(Edward, Jet, and the dog as well). I don't feel that it would be a great franchise if they choose to extend it into that. When I heard they were making a live-action film for this I immediately thought "Oh! A Knockin' On Heaven's Door live-action remake." I literally thought they would remake the movie, not remake the episodes and make them feature length.
I personally feel that it would be a bad idea to do that. They should make it one-solid-stand-alone-film, or a film with one equally-as-good sequel.  I think they should make up their own plot, while keeping the feel of the show.
An example:
Scooby-Doo!:The Movie. I know that film sucked, and I feel the same way about the original show and it's incarnations. But it had an original story while keeping the same feeling of the show, a.k.a a sugar high(or if you want to make the film sound worse, an acid-trip.)

If they can't make up their own plot for a film, remake Knockin' On Heaven's Door. Sure it won't be as good as the original, but at least they are doing something instead of stealing episodes from the show and trying to drag a 30 min episode out to 2 1/2 hours. If they are going to drag out an episode into a feature film, they can try, but it'll be a catastrophe. I like what Seth MacFarlane said(in an interview about a Family Guy film)"something that you could not do on the show, which is the only reason to do a movie."

I personally feel that they could definitely take all of the episodes where Julia and Vicious are involved ("Ballad of Fallen Angels", "Jupiter Jazz: Part 1 & 2", and lastly, "The Real Folk Blues: Part 1 & 2") and they can make a solid 2 1/2 hour stand alone film based on that alone and I believe that with some careful tweaking, it would make an excellent film.

Of course as an adaptation there will be liberties but what adaptation doesn't anyway?

If their going to remake "Knockin' on Heaven's Door", they better bring in Gina Gershon as Electra because I've heard from some fans that the character is a perfect resemblance to her and I have to agree! Gina is a solid actress and what was the last movie we've seen her in? I haven't heard from her for awhile since the last movie I saw her in is "Face/Off" and I believe that if they bring in Electra, I can't picture anyone else who could do that role.

I'm worried about this one. Cowboy Bebop is my favorited anime. I'm worried there going to ruin it. They better not!
