I usually do not watch many movies from the silent era. the only ones I watch are ones like Metropolis and Nosferatu. But I recently found this in my dad's dvd library and decided to pop it in. 82 minutes later, i had another movie to add to my best of collection. Not only is the film a masterpiece, it may just contain the best performance i have ever seen in my life. I don't want to give a lot away so you can experience it yourself. Buy the Criterion DVD. Worth every penny.
