When movie buffs like us think summer, we think of fun action blockbusters but its September now and the "summer blockbuster season" is unfortunately over. It all started out with X Men Origins: Wolverine and moved on to such movies as Star Trek, Terminator Salvation, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and it all ended with Inglourious Basterds. What are your Top 5 Favorite Summer Blockbusters this year? (this includes comedies and dramas like Up, The Hangover and Aliens in the Attic [LOL  Cheesy]).

Here's my Top 5:

5. Public Enemies
4. Star Trek
3. Up
2. Funny People
1. District 9

Honerable Mentions: The Hangover, Drag Me to Hell and The Taking of Pelham 123

What's really funny and ironic is that I just saw Moon last night and today I get home from school and see that Fury has a review for it up on YouTube. Not only that but I took this list a second thought and now that I have seen some of these movies again I have come up with a new and official Top 5 Favorite Summer Blockbusters

5. Up- Disney Pixar does it again
4. The Hangover- I've now seen it three times and it never gets old
3. District 9 - It was better the first time around but still good the second
2. Star Trek- Perfect summer blockbuster
1. Moon- Perfect movie. A.M.P.A.S give Sam Rockwell his Best Actor award please!!

Honerable Mentions: Drag Me To Hell, Funny People, GI Joe: Rise Of Cobra (I like it a lot better than I remembered) and I'm going to see The Hurt Locker in the next few days so this list might change again

I finally saw The Hurt Locker last night and it was really good, it isn't in my top 5 but it is in my honorable mentions. Very interesting film with great performances all over, especially from Jeremy Renner. I'd give it 8/10. I still gotta see Inglorious Basterds though, then my Summer Blockbuster watching will be complete and I will be satisfied  Grin Grin Grin

5.) Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen One word: Starscream.  He completely made this movie watchable for me.  And his little echange with Megs on the moonmarssaturnasteroid was classic Screamer.
4.) Star Trek Having never watched Star Trek in my life, I was completely clean going into this one.  And I absolutely loved it. I actually want to watch the old series now.
3.) Up It's Pixar man, how can you go wrong?
2.) The Hangover Just great.  There's really nothing I can add that hasn't already been said.
1.) (tie) District 9/Inglorious Basterds I honestly can't decide which of these I like more.  Both were fantastic examples of how you can make a smart movie that has mass appeal, and both were so much fun to watch.  "Inglorious" has stuff like "that's a bingo!", but "District 9" has Christopher Johnson, who I am officially nominating for Most Underappreciated Character of 2009.  What can I say, I love them both, and it's my list, and if I say there's room enough for both of them, then there is, dammit!
