I got a few but I'll share one with you.

                One of the first computers my dad ever bought was some packaged overpriced mess that was sold on TV. I remember how excited we were to get it and we carefully opened up all the pieces and read the manuals to make sure we put everything together accordingly. Along with all the useless software was a game called "Stargoose" and it was the first thing we loaded up together. We were amazed at the visual effects and we spent the a good part of the rest of the day playing the game. It was one of the few times I remember spending quality time with my dad. My mom always felt video games tore the family apart but she had no idea it brought me and my dad closer.

      I always appreciated my dad for getting us that home PC. Since then we played games like Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Half Life 1 + 2 and unreal tournament together. Now that I have a son of my own I make sure to play all the games with him, he loves calling me over to play Spider-man or Superman or UP or his favorite Cloning Clyde. I laugh at people's reactions when they hear my son can handle his own with video games at his young age. I can feel the judgmental attitude seething out as they think to themselves how neglectful I must be letting my kid rot his brains on dumb video games. Yet if you see my kid in the park he runs circles around kids his age. The only time I regretted my kid playing video games was when I left him on Xbox live and he somehow bought a buncha points I couldn't get a refund on.  Still don't know how he did that.
   

My fondest video game moments are forever seeded in the game Super Mario World.  I played that game to death when I was a kid!

  A long time ago, when I had the PS1, my parents bought me the game Spyro 2. This was the first game where I didn't mess around and actually played. Such a memorable game, it slowly became my favorite.

The first time i played Sega Genesis (Mega Drive in Sweden where i live ;P) and see Sonic the Hedgehog. It looked AMAZING when you where used to playing NES.  :D

This was the game that changed my childhood, I liked it so much that i started a club called CBDC (from one faction of the game) and my friends would pick characters from other games and we made our own stories based upon those games and run around outside with toyguns.It lasted 4 years. Best days of my life  :)

Personally, I always remember playing Godzilla on the Nintendo Entertainment System. Ever since I was a child, I have loved the Godzilla movies, like the dubbed versions and even the latest blockbuster movie. Sure it wasn't very well recieved, but as a child, i loved it. But to actually get to play as Godzilla was a dream come true to be honest, I used to spend countless hours on it, and if you ever played it, you may understand what i mean.

As for what Fury said regarding video games rotting the mind of children, is frankly a load of rubbish (Not you, people stating such) Maybe it was considered un-natural at first, but these days, it's a hobby and just part of every day life. Not many children in higher developed countries have gone without playing games, and the sooner people realise this, the better  

Playing Spider-Man on the PS1 to death when i got it. It was such an awesome game. :D

The end of MGS3- The saddest yet most cinematic game series ever. Anyone who has a ps2 or ps3 with ps2 and ps1 capabilitys should play metal gear, because they are al amazing games!

Too many to list really. I'm a bit of a "lapsed gamer" as Nintendo are calling them today - I gave up on games when they got all nerdy and stupidly difficult, and every setting became this dark, brown coloured post-apocalyptic yawn-fest.

The first "proper" console I owned (after a couple of Ataris which didn't really work so well anymore and a BBC Acorn Electron) was a Nintendo! I loved the thing! I remember my Dad driving me all the way out to Evesham (a good 45 minute journey) to pick it up after having bought it from a classified ad in a newspaper. Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong, Duck Hunt, Gyromite (complete with the little ROB robot dude!)...

Sonic CD. My friends always had the Sega MegaDrive. I never managed to get one (my parents didn't tend to buy me videogame consoles when I already had one, and I couldn't afford them when I was a kid!) until much, much later. But, in my first couple of weeks of secondary school, I met a young chap named Richard, who was big into Sonic, like myself (I didn't have any of the games but I was an avid reader of the UK/Europe exclusive epic Sonic the Comic and I watched the cartoons a lot too), and he lent me Sonic CD for the PC. I was thrilled to find out there was a Sonic game I could play on my PC, but even more wowed when I saw the animated cut-scenes, amazing levels, time-travel and awe-inspiring CD music. Fantastic!

I used to love my N64. I must have been, what, 12? And I wanted the thing so bad, until finally my parents got me one for Christmas one year. The excitement just blew my mind, heheh! Super Mario 64, WHAT a game! They got me that and GoldenEye with it. Good times! Then of course there was Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which I'd probably say was the best game I ever played, to this day.

Unboxing the Wii! Ok, very interesting story about this one. After having a love-hate relationship with a slowly dying Xbox 360 in 2006, this new Nintendo system was looming. My fond nostalgia for Nintendo consoles (as you can see above!) got the better of me and so I traded the 360 in. The interesting part is this - the Wii was sold out everywhere, before it even launched - pre-orders were out of stock and some places were using raffles to pick which pre-orders actually got served (frickin' crazy, man!), but a Nintendo-obsessed friend of mine, Tom, had pre-ordered two systems on two different websites, just in case one fell through, so I transferred the money into his account and got him to contact the supplier of one and change the address to mine. It was great to see the reports of the huge midnight queueing on the TV in the morning while I have mine given to me at the doorstep while I'm still in my dressing gown.

But that was an awesome day, playing this crazy new system, the way it played! Wii Sports is a thrill, and Zelda (which I also got with it) was just wonderful. It's served me well since then as well, 2008 was a bit quiet but games like Metroid Prime 3, Mario Kart, Super Mario Galaxy, Samba De Amigo and Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat have been a blast!

If anybody wants to know, the love-hate affair with the Xbox 360 didn't end there, a few years later I picked up another one, mainly for Sonic Unleashed (sure, it was on Wii, but the Wii version looked inferior) and Silent Hill Homecoming. Ironically, Sonic Unleashed turned out to be better on the Wii, and Silent Hill Homecoming was stupidly difficult and wasn't really as special as the classics (and a whole new Silent Hill for Wii is on the way), on top of that it ended up taking up too much time and money and I just wasn't really excited for any games, so it got traded in again.

Heh, impressive what smeone will go through to play the remade games of one's childhood. I've always been a Sony guy, but if I were you I would have done the same thing. A nostalgic moment is worth all the trouble. :D Have a cookie.

I got a little bit of nostalgia for Sony too! I used to love Crash Bandicoot and DOOM on my PlayStation, and Final Fantasy VII back when I had the time for that! I play Crash of the Titans on my Wii now, and that game is a blast, albeit pretty different from the original. I still got my PS1 under my bed, and next to the Wii is my PS2 (heck, I'm using it to play DVDs at the moment, LOL) and I kept the Silent Hill box set I have.

 I have more memories.

    When I first started dating Chula, I knew exactly the kind of girl I wanted. Coming from a relationship where the girl was this stuffy uptight anal complainer I wanted the total opposite. Chula would come over my small basement apartment and hang out but it was HALO that brought us together. When that game came out she would come over every day and we ran through the co-op campaign together. It was that game that showed us how compatible we are and how well we communicated. We didn't end up arguing when she would kill us both and she didn't mock me when I did something wrong.
   
    It was an excellent way to determine if the relationship was going to be a long lasting one or just a brief one.

That is the strangest, yet most touching love story I have ever heard. But, I would belive it if it was coming from Halo- even though that always made me hate my friends when they died and stuff.

PLAYING ROCKETS WITH MY STEP-DAD ON HALO 3.

Not really a fond memory, but a strong one:
- Getting Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Christmas and getting s**t scared by Gohma (the first boss).  That thing terrified me.  :-[

man my fondest moments were probably on the old old Intellivision when i was younger before i had a nintendo.  I played it all the time, and all the games were really simple but i loved them.  Wish i still had it today to see how truly awful they were, hehe.

The moment that I got all the stars in Super Mario 64. I may have spent countless hours wasting my life but it was all worth it.

Man, am I glad that they are remaking it, Pokemon games need to be awesome like that again.
