I personally disagree with that statement.

The film industry is going down the shitter in quality, but they are making so much money than ever before. Just look at all of movies that get so many bad reviews, but score the jackpot at the box office! Date Movie, Epic Movie, and Meet The Spartans are all perfect examples of movies that were universally panned by critics, by still managed to turn a huge profit. Thankfully Disaster Movie was a disaster with both critics and the box office.

Then we have Uwe Boll, one of the worst directors in history, continuing to make stinker after stinker. He keeps nagging that his films having a real genius to them, but in reality they are a scourge to cinema. Rather then listening to his critics, who are right to criticize his movies and actually give him some advice to do better, Boll just beats the crap out of them in boxing matches. As long as he gets to keep making movies, the future of cinema is in grave peril.

Finally, we have the fact that movie tickets are becoming so freakin' expensive and therefore give bad movies big opening weekends. I do understand that ticket price increase is necessary, for the inflation of movie budgets continue to go up as time goes on. However, because of expensive movie tickets, bad movies can easily make their budget back and more within a couple weeks, despite having small audience attendence.

So in conclusion, I'll refrain from seeing movies that get negative reviews, but sadly the Moviepocalypse seems inevitable. Cry

Uwe Boll is simply the Ed Wood of today, except where Ed Wood was a notable "real nice guy," Uwe Boll is a fucking dick.

I don't agree with this statement that much. Most movies today aren't really made for critics, they're made for the fans. Some movies that are consider bad are actually for entertainment only. But some movies you know that the director didn't take the project seriously and only did it for $$$$. So, the problem with the movie biz isn't that there is to many bad movies, it's more like there is too many unoriginal and uninspiring movies

All great comments. Man, where do I stand with this. Film is a subjective medium. Despite critics giving Uwe Boll "advice" the fact is there are many people who enjoy his films just the way they are. Also, many critics don't understand it's one thing to say you don't like something it's another to tell someone how to do their job. A lot of these guys cross the line and try to take bread and butter right out of Uwe Bolls mouth. Am I a fan of his work? No, but I'm a fan of Freedom and those people who made petitions to stop him from making movies are flat out wrong and overstepping their boundaries.  The  same way people make movies for a certain audience , Critics should be reviewing for the appropriate audience.

I think a more appropriate question is, how can we prevent studio involvement that affect creativity in film? Most of the movies I have hated are due to direct studio involvement. Guys in suits thinking they know what the people want and tell the director to add things that goes against his vision just for selling more toys or burgers. It happened to Sam Raime with Spiderman 3 and Gavin Hood in Wolverine Origins. we need to stop that,

I agree with you Fury. I actually signed the petition to have him keep making movies. Some people obviously like them (even for wrong reasons) or else he wouldn't get funding to make the films.
